Dreamlands

 October 25th 2014 at 2.30 pm and 7.30 pm.

Dreamlands is back at the Arden for two performances as part of the Canterbury Festival 2014 Umbrella.

The Really Promising Company’s musical performance is inspired by Turner’s paintings of Kent. Dreamlands is a poignant tale of loves lost and found and fading memory. A confused elderly lady takes one final nostalgic trip to Margate with her daughter – the places she visits remind her vividly of her youth, her hopes and dreams and her first love.

The show celebrates the beauty and history of Margate and East Kent and is interwoven with events and characters from the area’s history. Members of the Really Promising Company have written the script and the musical score and produced artworks which perform a central role in the performance.

The script and lyrics are the work of Jane Jones, a dentist in Faversham and the music has been specially written by a young, local composer Lewis Edmunds, who is also the musical director. Dreamlands is performed by a dedicated company of enthusiastic amateurs with a professional sound.
